In a matchup that ended in disappointment for the No. 3 Grand Valley Lady Cardinals, the team fell to the No. 6 St. Mary’s Pirates in the Great 8 of the Colorado 3A state basketball playoffs at the University of Denver on Thursday. The loss was particularly stinging as the Lady Cardinals, boasting an undefeated record of 24-0, were eyeing their first state championship appearance since 2008.
