On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, the proposed 2025 budget was presented to the Town Council. This was the second budget meeting for the Town Council, and an initial budget workshop was held in September. The final budget is scheduled for adoption on November 21, 2024, during a duly noticed public hearing.

The 2025 Budget for the Town of Parachute reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality services to our residents while ensuring that we remain financially sustainable. The development of this budget was guided by our adopted Comprehensive Plan, long-term financial policies, and the Strategic Goals set forth by the Town Council. This budget outlines how the Town will continue to invest in infrastructure, economic development, and essential public services. It also continues our steadfast commitment to being fiscally responsible with taxpayer funds while making the necessary investments in the community to create a strong, resilient, and bright future for the Town of Parachute.
Much like last year, the 2025 budget includes a sizeable investment and outlay in capital projects and one-time expenditures. Many of the Town’s streets, utility infrastructure, and essential equipment were purchased and built in the 1970’s, and we are starting to see a lot of these assets require significant investment. A major priority for staff has been evaluating this infrastructure and preparing robust Asset Management Plans and Financial Plans. The 2025 budget has been prepared considering this information and in a conscious effort to be proactive in addressing these critical maintenance needs. This requires the use of the Town’s unrestricted fund balance, most of which is available in the Capital Fund from previous projects that finished under budget.
