Man standing beside two classic red fire trucks

Parachute, Colo. - February 27, 2025 - David Blair was sworn in at the regular Town Council meeting on Thursday, February 20th, after he was selected among 5 applicants to fill the vacant position on Town Council. The vacancy was created by outgoing Councilman Rory Birdsey, who resigned on December 31, 2024 to pursue a career opportunity that took him elsewhere in the state. Blair will fill the remainder of the term, which expires in April 2026.

David Blair joins the Town Council after previously serving on the Town's Planning Commission. Blair first moved to Parachute August 1985 to continue his career in public service and serve what became a 38-year career as a firefighter and paramedic. Blair retired as the Fire Chief for the Grand Valley Fire Protection District in December 2023. He remains involved with community organizations and volunteers through the local Kiwanis. He also enjoys the rich outdoor opportunities the town and region have to offer, and you can often find him driving around or working on classic vehicles. He has been married to his wife, Gayle, since November 1979.
