• Construction crews have made a lot of progress removing the old asphalt and prepping for paving, but the project has been delayed due to unforeseen conditions found in the roadway subsurface
o The base of the road failed compaction testing and standards, and it has to be replaced prior to re-paving
o We believe this was the root cause of the issue and was what led to the road cracking and failing in the first place.
o We are going to make the extra effort to repair the conditions of the base layer to ensure the road is built properly
• Unfortunately, this means the project will be delayed and will not be finished tomorrow (Friday) as originally scheduled
o Crews will begin excavating the road base as soon as possible, and they will replace material as they go to limit interruptions to neighbors and their driveway access.
o Weather permitting, we anticipate completing this process and paving by the end of next week, Friday, 11/3
• Please continue to park off-street and out of the construction area during this time.
• We appreciate everyone’s patience.
• If you have questions, please contact the Town at 970-285-7630 or info@parachute.gov
